Detention lieutenant faces DUI charge
WINTER HAVEN – Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Polk County sheriff’s detention lieutenant on Tuesday and charged him with driving under the influence.
According to the affidavit, a Polk County sheriff’s sergeant on patrol observed a tan four-door Toyota weaving and hitting curbs, heading east on Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven around 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ex-nurse gets house arrest for drug abuse, fraud
NAPLES — A 50-year-old former nurse who was addicted to painkillers and falsified patient records to steal pills was sentenced to five years of house arrest for that and other crimes.
But Debra Archer Hauenstein of Golden Gate, who got hooked on drugs after an injury, may never finish her sentence: She’s in the terminal stages of breast cancer.
