Florida Courts Change Vocabulary of Custody Cases
TALLAHASSEE – Starting today, Florida courts will change the vocabulary of custody cases in an effort to change the outcome for the better.
The new divorce law is a war on words aimed at forcing a cease-fire in broken marriages where children are innocent casualties. Gone are the terms “custody,” “visitation” and “primary custodial parent” in how courts decide what’s best for children. In their stead are “parenting plan,” “time-sharing schedule” and noncontroversial labels for parents.
